Description
An 8″x8″ New Orleans crawfish encaustic mixed media work of art. This piece was created by layering art paper on a wood panel, sealing the layers with clear encaustic wax, transferring a photograph of crawfish into the warm wax, then adding details with oil paint.
This small work of art is perfect to sit on a shelf, fill a small space, or hang with a grouping to create a gallery wall.
Encaustic is a unique art form that creates an ethereal and nostalgic look that is one-of-a-kind.
What is encaustic? Encaustic is a mixture of beeswax and damar resin. It is melted and fused as layers are added. While it can be scratched, it is a durable surface that will protect collaged layers for years to come. Over time the surface may dull. if you want to maintain a shiny surface all you have to do is periodically rub your palm over the top to buff it back to a high shine.
