Helplessness is a Scary Feeling… But I Would Feel Anything for You

Relationships are a complicated thing. There is a lot of push, pull, give and take. You have to make sure you are taking care of yourself and your significant other. You have to learn not to be selfish, and try to put someone elses needs at least at the same level, if not before, your own needs. Every relationship has its ups and downs, and as a normal couple Nick and I have had our ups and downs. Luckily I do believe we are meant for each other, because we compliment each other very well. If one is upset, the other comforts. We rarely fight, we have little to argue about, we don’t try to start fights, and in general we are very supportive of each other. When couples fight they need to be able to compromise and work things out, and arguments can be solved between just those two people. What I have found more difficult than our rare fights is when Nick has an argument with someone else, or is hurt by someone else, because I have no control over that, I can’t make it better.

This page is represents one of those instances where I felt like I was at a loss. I would do anything to make him feel better, comfort him, make him laugh… but there was nothing I could do. In those moments all you can do is be there, be supportive, and remind them that everything will work out. Even though it may feel dark, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Everything did work out, we all came out in one piece, but helplessness is not a good feeling, but I would feel anything for my Nick.

I know that this page will continue to apply to my life, I’m sure it applies to everyone’s life. I know that not everything is perfect. I know that we will fight sometime in the future, and I know that we will get in fights with other people. The important thing to remember is to not get fed up, to remain supportive and caring. I think in those moments I will look back on this page and remember how helpless I felt, and how in the end everything worked out.

I really like the effect that ripped magazines have, and I often use them in my journal. To get the fade affect in the background I had to search through many magazines to find the right colors. I wanted to have some color, not just grays, and I was lucky to stumble across an image of an overcast sky with sun coming through, which created the pink. I just happened to stumble upon the image of the guy and girl, and it applied perfectly. I add the words with sharpie, but purposefully wrote on a dark background so it would blend in. I didn’t want this page to be about the words, I wanted it to be about the image, and the dark on dark helped me achieve that.
