This is such a quick, easy project and a great way to decorate for a bridal or baby shower! I was inspired by a cloth banner a friend of mine made for another shower. Unfortunately the sewing needle on my sewing machine recently broke, so I decided to make it out of paper. It only took me an hour and a half to make this, and it was so easy I ended up making another one for another shower I hosted.
All you need in order to make this is a spool of ribbon, patterned and solid colored paper, a hot glue gun, glue sticks, and rubber cement. I cut out a triangle template, then traced it on the paper I wanted to use for the base. The template I used is 7 1/2 inches long (both sides are 7 1/2 inches) and it is 7 inches across the top. The template I used for the letters is 6 inches long on both sides, 6 inches across the top.
I also used a triangle template to help me determine the size the letters needed to be. This template is slightly smaller than the base to allow space for the ribbon to be attached. This allowed me to make sure the letters would fit on the base perfectly. After I drew the letter, I cut it out, then glued it to a contrasting color to help it stand out. I then cut the letter out again, leaving a little bit of the other color showing behind the letter cut out.
Before gluing the letters to the base I attached the ribbon. I spread the triangles on the table, making sure they were evenly spaced. I taped the end of the ribbon to the table to allow me to pull it tight across the triangles. I hot glued the ribbon to the front of the triangles, I lined the ribbon up so that it was touching the top edge of the triangle, and allowed extra on both ends to hang it up.
After I hot glued the ribbon I used rubber cement to glue the letters to the triangle bases. I love this project, it’s cheap, quick, easy, and so personal!
This is a banner I made for a bridal shower. If you are a bride it is also an easy way to decorate for you wedding/reception!
