If you need a quick, cheap centerpiece before a party, shower, or to simply add extra flair to a room, this is a great way to go. All you need is burlap, a decorative napkin, and a candle holder.
I was trying to throw together some last minute details for a bridal shower, and realized I needed a centerpiece for my table. I had enough time to run to the store to pick up a few items, $5 for a piece of burlap (Joann Fabric), $5 for a decorative napkin (World Market), and $30 for the candle holder (World Market).
To create the look I layered a large piece of burlap for the base, the decorative napkin, and a small square of burlap on top. I did not have time to sew the burlap, so I simply cut it, and spread it on the table. The downfall to this is burlap easily frays, so if you don’t plan on ever sewing it, you have to be careful. Another no sew option is to add a line of hot glue around the edge of the back of the burlap to prevent fraying.
Although I did spend a little extra money for the candle holder you can easily create a beautiful look using items from around your house. I experimented a little and created a cute look using wine glasses, grass from my backyard, and tea lights. Another option are mason jars, which are a very trendy decorative item.
The best advice when creating a centerpiece is to have fun and experiment. Pull out interesting glasses, vases, and bowls. Take a tour around your yard and pick up flowers, grass, leaves, pine straw. Try various arrangements, color combinations, and materials until you find something you love! Thanks for visiting, please comment, ask questions, and subscribe!
